Securing Online Transactions

Keeping computer-to-financial institution transactions secure remains a challenge for both banks and technology vendors. I came across a neat consumer tool at Digital Experience in New York earlier this summer. Called GuardID, is is smart card technology that consumers can plug into a USB port. A user's private informatin is stored inside the card, which is shaped like a lock. And it goes for a mere $49.95 at leading computer shops like Best Buy, CompUSA and Circuit City. Who knows how little it would cost if banks bought it in bulk for their customers? http://www.,guardidsystems.com

I don't see how this thing works..... If your computer is hijacked, everything this USB device passes to the bank is also hijacked? What is the point..? I am surely missing something here.. :) I even read the info on the website.
