Temenos -- Microsoft Global Banking Partner -- Wins Award

TEMENOS, a provider of integrated core banking systems that offer front to back integration on a Microsoft platform, has won the Financial-i ‘Leaders in Innovation Awards’ for TEMENOS T24, the company’s modular core banking system. The criteria for selecting the winners were: product innovation over the last 12 to 18 months; cost effectiveness of solutions in terms of implementation and deployment; potential business benefits; ease of implementation and the ability to tackle specific business issues or problems. TEMENOS T24 offers a single client view across the enterprise and can support large numbers of users with true non-stop resilience. Its fully-integrated architecture enables it to offer a significant cost advantage compared to other competing products. The company, which competes with i-Flex, scrambled to make its system available with Microsoft SQL Server after Oracle acquired a significant share of i-Flex. TEMENOS now offers its fully integrated banking system on an entirely Microsoft platform.

# re: Temenos -- Microsoft Global Banking Partner -- Wins Award

I have heard a rumour (recently printed in the Asian press) that Temenos's only two Asian users (IBK & BAAC) are extremely unhappy with both the TCB product and ongoing failures in the implementation projects - including significant cost over-runs and lengthy delays. I hear that the two banks are currently considering taking joint legal action against Temenos. Can anybody provide more specific details ?

For what it is worth....

The TCB (Temenos CoreBanking) core banking system product is not related to T24.  Like Fidelity's Corebank product, and SlaterLabs Etude "approach", there is has an IFW and FSDM architectural heritage.  It has a different history from Globus-functionally-rich Temenos T24, and is closer to the start of its evolutionary cycle as a solution. Perhaps the market will decide in the years to come whether Temenos have been able to control and develop a solution that can be a success.  Today the early-adopters in Asia are particularly not fans of TCB functionality and the vendor experience/support that comes with it.

IBK did complete the implementation of the TCB solution. Time-to-market was reduced from 25+ days to just 2 or 3. 163 new products were released in the first 3 months after go-live. IBK beat its rivals to launch a "social issue" product and as a result took USD1 billion worth of deposits in 15 days of release.

I was the Client Services Director for Temenos APAC at the time, IBK was part of my portfolio.
