&lt;P&gt;That is a really good point. You're really describing the Status Quo unit testing option I describe above. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;What you really want to do is isolate all your dependencies so that they are passed in to the class you're writing. This way your unit tests can pass in mock versions of your dependencies instead of testing your code integrated with real implementations of other classes.&lt;/P&gt;
