ActiveSync Over Bluetooth between M200 and K-Jam : It Works!
One really exciting side benefit of the AKU2 Update has been seeing ActiveSync over Bluetooth actually work!
My M200 runs a bunch of Toshiba utilities, so I couldn't follow the guidelines posted on club iimate - i-mate™ K-JAM Bluetooth ActiveSync Setup (PDF).
So, I made up my own steps:
- I activated Bluetooth on the M200 and made it discoverable
- I used the Bluetooth Local COM applet to delete *ALL* the virtual COM ports. I then created a new virtual COM Port on COM6. This was of type LocalCOM-Server, which means it will handle incoming requests from a device.
- I then set ActiveSync on my M200 to use COM6, via the connection settings.
- Then, I went to my K-Jam, turned on Bluetooth, made it discoverable and created a New partnership
- The K-Jam detected my M200 and I was able to connect to it
- Then something magical happened. The ActiveSync service was detected.
- I then went to ActiveSync on the K-Jam and selected "Connect via Bluetooth"
- It connected and synched! It really synched.
I'm still in shock that it worked.
