Scoble leaving Microsoft for another grand adventure

The blogosphere rumor mill has been buzzing with the news that Robert Scoble is leaving Microsoft, with Chris Pirillo the most adamant

Robert then posted his response, Correcting the Record about Microsoft.

For me, this is both sad news and happy news.

Sad, because Microsoft is losing a loud cheerleader

Happy, because I think Robert has done what he can at Micosoft and he is ready for the next phase of his life, to be closer to his son, to slow down and to enjoy the journey.  I remember catching up with Robert earlier this year, and he was looking tired and worn out. I'm sure this change will be good for him and his family.

I've been honored to have been associated with Robert over the years. Just this weekend, Trevor Cook mentioned us together in a recent post.

Anyways, time to ask some questions and try to answer them too.

  • Will a new Microsoft Uber blogger emerge? Maybe. Does it matter? There's over 3,000 MSFT folks blogging now
  • Will I still be reading Robert's blog? Yup
  • Will I be leaving too (with Cam credited for starting that rumour) ? Ah, no. No one else would hire me.

Robert - All the best with the new venture.

that bit about no-one would hire you is bullshit Frank and you know it. I know you're happy at MSFT and that's fine, but you know you could easily make a higher salary on the outside if you ever wanted to. You know more about the online world than most of us put together.
