last.fm - the social music revolution

I've been using last.fm for a while now (it used to be called audioscrobbler)

You register on the site and download a plugin for your media player. The plugin uploads the music you are listening to and over time builds recommendations for other music, connects you to people who share similar music tastes, etc. It is really really cool

Since joining up in Nov 2004, I have played over 100,000 trackss (101,231 the last time I checked).

Now what is really cool, all this data is available. I have a chart on my blog which shows the tops songs from last week

I can also get my top artists overall

Or, I can include more details

Cool huh?

Plus, these charts can be customised. There are heaps of designs

And, as a good next gen web service, there's tags, blogs, friends, groups, neighbours and lots of other web 2,0 goodness. Tech Crunch has a good review

If you haven't tried last.fm, give it a spin. This is one of the best

Does it take the stats from an iPod as well? I thought of this but:
a) I mostly listen to podcasts now
b) I listen to my music on my iRiver (and would image most people would list to their Portable players) and so wouldn't get any stats about my usage.
