And everything under the sun is in tune

You have to start sometime

My name is Frank Gocinski and I work for Microsoft here in Redmond, Washington.  My role at Microsoft is in my mind one of the most exciting and challenging positions at the company. I have a small group of awesome folks and together with a lot of help from the Product teams within the Mobile Platforms Division we drive ISV related Business Development and Technical Evangelism. Our focus is the Tablet and Mobile PC Developer and the overall ISV ecosystem supporting it.

I consider this the ultimate jack of all trades master of none type of role that scans the entire breadth of the product development cycle. We are involved from specifications through product release and we are goaled to bring the voice of the development community and the ISV into the product team and to deliver the technical content our customers need to get the job done. It’s a lot of fun and I hope to share with you through this blog what it is we actually do…

The next few months should prove to be very exciting for the Tablet PC and Mobile PC development platform. We have our first conference focused on developers in the works, we’re calling it Microsoft Windows Anywhere http://www.microsoftwindowsanywhere.com because that really does sum up the role of the Mobile Platforms Division which is to allow the end user access to their applications and data anywhere at anytime and in new social and business settings. We’re also working on some very cool reference applications, technical whitepapers and samples that I’ll discuss more about in future posts.

For now I need to get my feet wet, check out this blogging stuff, see if it makes sense for me and to see if it allows me to connect with more of my customers.

I had a ton of turkey yesterday and even more today. It’s amazing how good it tastes and how many ways you can prepare it. Hot slices on Thursday, Turkey Salad on Friday and I made some stock last night so we’ll be having Turkey Soup tomorrow.

Later,

/frank

Your new endeavor sounds like a great source of reliable information on blogging. I am intrigued with blogging and set up this pseudo blog site to learn more about the techniwues before I jump in.

Great to see you blogging, Frank.

What are you most excited about in regards to the Tablet PC? Can you speak to some of the "doom and gloom" press?

Let me know if you want some MMS to .Text or MSN to .Text code. Makes it easier to post from a windows mobile device whenever you have a thought pop up.

Frank, thanks for sharing the scope and vision. I'm not a developer, more of a power user of mobile technology, but I'm looking forward to what perspective you can share through your blog.

Keep me in mind if you're looking for that "customer" point of view. I currently write for PocketPCTools.com as well as my own limited blog, KCT's Digital World. I also have an article forthcoming in PocketPC Magazine that should hit the stands around the end of the year.

Best of luck,
KCT

Welcome to the blogsphere, Frank!

I'm a journalist/consultant/speaker in engineering automation. I've recently become convinced that the Tablet PC is the ideal form factor for engineers and architects. That represents a multi-million "seat" market, so I'm hoping that MS and the tablet vendors will begin to pay a bit more attention to it.

For now, I'm gathering data on engineers and architects who are already benefiting from tablets. Watch for my articles in ENGINEERING AUTOMATION REPORT and elsewhere.

And if you can spare me 20 minutes or so, I'd love to interview you on this topic.

Warmly,
Joel Orr

Frank,

Looking forward to reading your blog. I've recently started a small ISV and our first product runs on the compact framework. So it sounds like you should be right up my alley.
