About SDK writer

My name is Francis Langlois and I work at Microsoft Corp. [MSFT]. My job here is a content publisher. This is a relatively new term to describe what I do. I'm not sure it is clear to people outside Microsoft, but that's okay. I like it a lot better than Programmer/Writer or Programming Writer or the other variants I've been called.

Most of the time I've been at Microsoft, I've written technical documentation for various Software Development Kits (SDK). SDK is another acronym that is meaningless to otherwise intelligent people like my father-in-law. When I get my hair cut and the stylist asks me what I do, I tell her I'm a writer. Then, I tell her I write documentation about software. That usually clears up the blank stares.

I intend to write about my job as a content publisher and the challenges of communicating technical material to people. I'll keep it brief generally. I hope that the meat of the discussion occur in the comments rather than in my initial discussion of any subject.
