# re: Zoran announces XPS rendering support for printers

Hi Feng,

I work for a company that manufactures inkjet printers, and I'm in charge of host software (including printer drivers) development. We provide our Drivers and Software for free.
The Vista print path looks very promising in terms of new features/flexibility and removing limitations imposed by the old GDI print path. Unfortunately Microsoft does not provide the XPS rasterizer, so in order to support the new print path we would have to write our own rasterizer or license one of the third party rasterizers (Global Graphics, Zoran or Software Imaging), both translate to cost for us.

What are your thoughts about Microsoft not providing a (free) XPS rasterizer as part of the Windows system ? I personally think that not providing one will hurt its embracement by printer manufactures.

Dan.
