There are a couple of options to get Windows XP Embedded for research and teaching purposes:

  1. Windows XP Embedded is part of the MSDN AA subscription. It is the trial, version which lasts for 6 months. Depending on the duration of the project this may be a sufficient solution.
  2. If that is not workable, you should get in touch with the Academic Relations person in your region to get you the retail version of the product from the Windows CE team.
  3. Another possibility is to obtain the DVDs with instructional material about Windows CE (a subset of Windows XP Embedded) produced by Jim Hamblen.The DVDs contain a copy of a trial license of Windows CE.
