Course Descriptions

Visual Studio 2005 Overview

During this one day training event, you will be exposed to the new benefits of Visual Studio 2005. After doing a lap around the new IDE features, you will see some enhancements in the popular VB and C# languages. As a .NET developer, you realize the power of the base class libraries; now you can learn about the capabilities of new namespaces and classes. Visual Studio 2005 provides advanced means of accessing data from relational databases as well as XML data stores that will assist you in daily activities. Lastly, applications almost always benefit from compelling user interfaces. See how Visual Studio 2005 enables developers to make exciting new interfaces with enhancements provided in Windows Forms and web development with ASP.NET.

 

ASP.NET v2.0 Overview

If you are already experienced with ASP.NET, then this one day training event will begin your entry into the new features of ASP.NET v2.0 and Visual Studio 2005. You will learn about the new simplified approach of data binding with new controls and caching. Build new cutting-edge UIs with a minimum of effort through the new features of Master Pages, Themes and Skins. Take advantage of a new API for creating, validating and managing users and roles in your solutions. Benefit from the use of Profiles to personalize applications above and beyond the use of Session State. Watch how much easier it is for your customers to navigate your applications. Finally, learn how you can provide and extend a uniform programming interface between the ASP.NET runtime and your physical data stores.

 

Windows Forms v2.0 Overview

During this one day training event, you will be exposed to the new benefits of Visual Studio 2005 for developing Smart Client applications. After a quick introduction to Windows Forms development, you will see some of the new user interface controls that have been added in Visual Studio 2005. In addition you will learn about the new data access methods and the new GridView control. You will also learn how Click Once will make deploying Smart Clients easier than ever. Later, you will learn about the new mobile features being added in Visual Studio 2005. The day will wrap up with a session on the new capabilities of Visual Studio Tools for Office.

 

Visual Studio Team System Overview

During this one day training event, you will be exposed to the benefits of the new Visual Studio 2005 Team System. We will cover this new platform for managing your development lifecycle and help you understand how it can be used to add visibility and predictability to development projects. You will learn about the new project management feature of Team System as well as new graphical design tools. The new testing framework will be explored, covering unit tests as well as manual, web, and load tests. The day will wrap with a session on the new profiling tools included with Team System.
