Instructions for Upgrading Different Versions of TFS To the RTM Version

- Team Foundation Server Beta 3 – this pre-release version of TFS was released in the fall of 2005 with a “Go-Live” license allowing customers to run it in production with support from Microsoft. A refreshed build of Beta 3 was released with Visual Studio 2005 in October 2005.
- Team Foundation Server Release Candidate – this pre-release version of TFS was released in February of 2006.
- Team Foundation Server Trial Edition – this fully functional edition of Team Foundation Server is available free of charge with a license that expires after 180 days. After the trial period has expired, it must be upgraded to the workgroup or standard editions of TFS.
- Team Foundation Server Workgroup Edition – this edition of Team Foundation Server provides full functionality at no additional charge for up to 5 users with no expiration period. To support larger teams, it must be upgraded to the standard edition of TFS.
Note: Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite and VS Professional 2005 upgrades from their respective trial editions will need uninstall/reinstall.
