DETAILS
So what is Visual Studio 2005 Team System in a nutshell? VSTS (as it’s called) is a tightly-integrated suite of role-centric tools that shares a common lifecycle framework. It integrates process guidance, prescriptive architectures, and life-cycle tools for successfully deploying solutions on the Windows platform. Team System includes role-based tools to support the entire software development team, including architects, developers, testers, project managers, and other business stakeholders. This, coupled with proven process guidance, prescriptive architectural guidance, and solution accelerators, allows VSTS to assist organizations in improving the predictability and reliability of delivering mission-critical solutions.

Software Architects
Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Architects aims at improving the design and validation of distributed systems. Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Architects gives architects, operations managers, and developers the ability to increase the predictability of success by visually constructing service-oriented solutions that can be validated against their operational environments prior to deployment.

Team Foundation Server
Visual Studio Team Foundation Server is the “heart” of Team System. It provides insight into the ‘black box’ that is application development today with integrated version control, reporting, work item tracking, process guidance and automated builds. These features are tightly integrated with Visual Studio 2005 so individuals can work naturally while Team Foundation Server collates their work with the rest of their team.
