It is time for us to help!
For the past few days we have now seen devistating pictures of the effect of the terrible disaster that has struck South East Asia. Personally I have been an active member in search and rescue for over 10 years both in my home country of The country where I live and in the US, but the task rescuers and relief agencies in these countries are facing is way beyond anything I can start to imagine and the magnitude of the disaster is impossible for anybody to comprehend.
It is crucial that we who are in the IT industry, one of the more prospering industries in the world, lead by good example and donate funds towards the enourmous task ahead for rescue and relief organizations in the affected areas.
I therefore encourage you to find a reputable organization, like for example the Red Cross/Red Crecent and make a donation towards the victims of the disaster in SE Asia. You can donate on-line at http://donate.ifrc.org/ or through your local national chapter (see http://www.ifrc.org/address/rclinks.asp for a list). Also encourage your employer to match your donations so that they also can show that this industry really cares.
