Passed my first MCP exam in 10 years
Yesterday I finally went ahead and took an MCP test. I haven't taken MCP tests for 10 years. I took all the tests required for MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer) ten years ago, but since these tests were based on C++ and Win32, then they all experied a number of years ago. I'm currently attending an internal training conference in Redmond and there we are allowed to take MCP exams like crazy.
So I went ahead and took the (70-316) Developing and Implementing Windows-based Applications with Microsoft Visual C# .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio.NET exam. Having taught the material to over 400 students I was a little tense going to the exam, because my former students would of course make fun of me if I didn't pass it :-)
Thankfully things went well and I got a score of 880 (700 was required for passing). I guess some of this stuff actually made it into my mind while teaching.
Currently I am studying for (70-320) Developing XML Web Services and Server Components with Microsoft Visual C# and the Microsoft .NET Framework which is going to be a little harder because it contains stuff I really haven't used to much like .NET Remoting and Enterprise Services. I'll be taking that exam in approx. 2 hours so I wonder why I am writing a blog entry instead of reading study material.
If by any chance I manage to pass this exam (which I doubt right now considering all the nitty gritty stuff I didn't know about Enterprise Services and Remoting) then I plan to take yet another exam tomorrow. Otherwise I'll return and retake the exam tomorrow :-)
Now I just have to hope the randomizer of the questions will have a large set of questions from the Web Services, just like yesterday I seemed to get 5000 questions about ADO.NET (actually they were 12 out of 42).
Well...back to studying
