The Goldfish Bowl

Graham Tyler's blog capturing thoughts on SharePoint, Live Communications and more
Hello World!

Hi there. I've been thinking about what to use as the title for this, my first blog post, and after much internal debate I've gone with the first thing that came to mind. Welcome to the Goldfish Bowl :-)

I am a developer consultant at Microsoft Consulting Services in the UK, with a focus on enterprise collaboration solutions. My role involves enhancing our 'off-the-shelf' products to build custom solutions, that can be published and re-used wherever possible. I have an interest in all aspects of collaborative software, and will be posting thoughts, tips and solutions as they occur to me - but I'll most often be talking about the SharePoint Products and TechnologiesLive Communications Server and Office 2003 Smart Client Applications.

Hopefully this page will become a useful technical resource! I'm also planning to post about solutions I'm currently working on, as a 'sounding board' for ideas - I'd love to hear any feedback.

Hey Graham - funny how it's a small world, my office is around the corner in TVP (unless you're in GPS). Got a question - what's the likelihood of customers asking for archiving from Live Comms Server into a repository other than a sql db somewhere? I reckon it's pretty high - and happen to work for Microsoft's key archiving partner FY05 - KVS. (http://directory.partners.extranet.microsoft.com/SolutionPage.aspx?i=41&cat=0&SolutionID=2364&pid=5&vid=0). Maybe we could explore the possibilities?

Cheers.
