MOSS 2007 : Documents Libraries / Report Libraries & Audience Targetting.
Does it sound familiar : As a content creator we try to publish & organize our documents & libraries in a decent way. Unfortunately those sales guy's don't find the information that is relevant for them. It happens all the time with all kinds of content (Word Documents, Excel Reports, ...). This is where Audience targetting comes in. The purpose is to publish relevant links to content somewhere on the portal on those pages they visit frequently eg. the Sales Home page. .

How do we build such a solution : Actually we need to complete 3 simple steps :
- Enable this feature on the list of content that you want to target (a Document Library, a Report Library containing excel reports or with SQL Server 2005 SP2 this is also possible for Reporting Services Reports published to the sharepoint environment).
- For each document/Report specify the audiences you want to target the content to.
- Place a Content Query web-part on the pages where you want to publish the links to relevant information.
