Role of the Architect in Planning phases of a project

For those of you who know me, I frequently make analogies of the Solutions Architect to that of a Architect of a building - this video is hilaraius and so true on the consequences of poor planning. Creating the vision for your solution and the blueprint of various aspects of what you are going to build and deliver both at a conceptual and logical level are artifacts that architects own as a role.Once execution begins, the role of the architect starts diminishing much as in the case of the brick and mortar architect, with just an oversight role being sufficient.
