MTV Video Award System sans US Channels

...because they don't play videos anymore in the US.

Variety International recently wrote about a new video award system that MTV Int'. is launching. It is similar to the Platinum and Gold system for albums and is meant to reflect the impact an artist has on the channel and viewers.

Results will be calculated across MTV's major international channels but does not include air time from the US, presumably because MTV rarely plays music videos anymore.  I'm with Justin Timberlake on this one - less reality, more music.

Anyone check out Fuse lately? It's my new favorite music channel.
