How do you connect users added to the site via AspNetSqlMembershipProvider to the Profiles? I am not able to figure out (yet) how to allow a user in the AspNetSqlMembershipProvider db to have properties that are editable by the user on their wss profile page. Any ideas or pointers are appreciated.

Hi Bob,

The problem there stems from the fact that the User Profile store for SharePoint is enabled to talk to any source that understands ldap/ad protocols. So with a custom authentication provider set to talk with a SQL Database, there isnt much one can do. If you take a look at the user profile import settings, you can set it up to import from only ldap compliant data sources.

With SQL, a long shot would be to try and import it using BDC. So basically you set up BDC to fetch the user details from the membership table and then set up the profile store to import it through there.

I havent tried it myself, but its worth a shot.
