Using the SDK on Windows Server 2003

If you're running on windows server 2003, you may run into problems trying to install the SDK. Here's what you can do to workaround the problem:

  1. Copy HealthVaultSDK.exe to a directory (c:\junk\test for this example)
  2. Extract the files:

    HealthVaultSDK.exe /C /T:c:\junk\test\
  3. type "hs_sdk.msi"

That will install the SDK to your machine.

Note that while the SDK does work on Win2003 server, the connection center client does not, so if you need to do device related stuff (and some other functions), you will need to install the SDK on a separate box.
