First of all, I have heard that Belgium was awesome, but who knew it was *this* awesome!
I hope this happens to me someday. Way better than the Mariners grounds crew.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it wasn't spontaneous; it was marketing for a Dutch reality TV show! http://mtbbusinesscommunication.wordpress.com/2009/03/26/vtm-surprises-commuters-at-antwerp-central-station/ . Have you seen this one? http://improveverywhere.com/2008/03/09/food-court-musical/
Don't worry, Phil. You aren't bursting my bubble. I knew a bunch pf people wouldn't suddenly be dancing in unison. :) I was just saying that it was made to appear spontaneous. That's the magic.
The food court one is totally pitchy, dude.
I think it was this T-Mobile ad that took this craze to a new level... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ3d3KigPQM and here is the making of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVFNM8f9WnI
Thanks for sharing...brought a smile to my face seeing participants of all ages & clearly the fun they were having. I think I saw a video of a similar event at Grand Central (?) in NYC, to the song of Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Donna,
I think I recall that video as well. There are some great "Thriller" performances on the web in addition to that one, my favorites being the Filipino prison yard and the wedding reception versions.
Graham - thanks for the T-Mobile one. I had not seen it. Did the ad run in Europe? I'm not getting the connection between cell phones and the video but I bet it was part of a bigger campaign.
Donna- I heard about something with Thriller where people were doing it in a bunch of different cities.
I think doing a flash mob of this type would be serious fun... marketing shilling or not. :)
very cool that. :) Would be cool to come across that in person too.
