'70-*' vs. '71-*' - What's the Difference?

Published 24 December 06 02:32 AM

I have seen several questions posted to different blogs asking what is the difference between the different exam prefixes.  For example, what is the difference between exam 70-541 and exam 71-541?  The answer is that 71-541 is the exam number for the beta version of exam 70-541.  We use different prefixes between the beta and live exam for a couple of reasons.  The first reason is that the beta exam consists of a different set of forms/questions from the live exam.  The second reason is that our delivery partners such as VUE and Prometric are able to track statistics for the beta and live versions of the exams seperately.

Therefore, for exam 541, when registering for the beta, you will always register for exam number 71-541.  When registering for the live exam, you will always register for exam number 70-541.
