A Somewhat Funny First Day at MSDN Magazine, NYC

Published 17 July 07 05:29 AM

The time change from PST to ET is just significant enough to make for a pretty groggy morning after a day of travel.  However, the morning looked to be pretty relaxed - I had planned to go to the hotel restaurant and have breakfast - not to mention load up on coffee.  However, when I jumped on email to check my schedule for the day, I noticed that my first meeting was set for 8:00AM.  All of the sudden, my relaxed morning turned into more of a mad dash to the office (fortunately, my hotel is about 2 blocks from the office).  Now I'm sitting here - quite alone - in the office, having learned one very valuable lesson.  The lesson is simple: remember to change the time zone in Windows.  Why?  Because Outlook will re-adjust your calendar based on time zone.  Had I done this I would have realized that my first meeting was at 11 rather than 8.

Now where's that coffee??

I can't imagine any company in NYC scheduling a meeting for 8:00 AM, and particularly not MSDN Magazine.

Welcome to New York, Howard!
