Rockin' Out Once More

Outside of my day job, music is one of my major passion areas.  I was a studio drummer for a little while, and I ran a Pro Tools-based studio out of my house for a few years.  As a result of all this, having a good listening environment is very important to me - whether at home or on the road.  Sadly, last December, I lost my Shure E5cs somewhere on a flight to Germany.

Good news though - I just got some new in-ear monitors, and for less than half the price.  I have always been a fan of Ultimate Ears - but more for their professional, custom-molded personal monitors.  However, just for kicks the other day, I looked at their "universal" (e.g. - non-molded) monitors - and that's when I came across the Super.fi 5 Pros.  The specs were really similar to the E5cs, and they were really pretty cheap (compared to what I spent to the Shures), so I decided to give them a shot.

Just got done listening to a bunch of different styles of music with them - and I am completely impressed.  They are not *quite* as accurate as the Shures, but they sound fantastic, and my current requirements are more about good sound than 0 sound color.  And for the price, I just don't think that there's anything out there to rival these things.
