Office 2007 Deployment Resources for End Users
I get asked a lot from customers about information to help them deploy Office 2007 to their organisation. Not about the technical bits to make it happen - but the interesting part is about how to get the organisation and the people ready for the new Ribbon User Interface and new Open XML file formats.
Here is a list of things I frequently send out, and if you are reading this you could very well have been sent this link in an email from me.
The Best Hidden Gems
Absolutely the best two major hidden gems you need to be aware of related to End User Experience with Office 2007 are “Search Commands” and the “Enterprise Learning Framework”.
1) Search Commands – this is a free add in that allows people to search using English terms to find the command they are looking for. It is an exceptionally useful tool, I highly, highly recommend it. It really helps users with the transition to the improved Office 2007 interface. You can download it here: http://www.officelabs.com/projects/searchcommands/Pages/default.aspx
2) Enterprise Learning Framework (ELF) - this is a structured way to approach the organisational changes and communication to your people about the Office 2007 roll out. After stepping through a wizard the ELF will give you the content you should send out to the users 1 month before deployment, 1 week before, the day before, the day of, and other time frames after the deployment. This is a great tool that does your thinking and email composition to your people for you!http://www.microsoft.com/technet/desktopdeployment/bdd/elf/welcome.aspx
