&lt;p&gt;If you look at &lt;a rel="nofollow" target="_new" href="http://blogs.msdn.com/iliast/archive/2007/12/13/wdf-1-7-rc1-has-been-released.aspx"&gt;http://blogs.msdn.com/iliast/archive/2007/12/13/wdf-1-7-rc1-has-been-released.aspx&lt;/a&gt; you'll see that we support XPSP2, but don't support XPSP1 or XP RTM. For every OS version we support only the latest SP, exactly because we didn't want to have to include the whole SP inside our coinstallers :P&lt;/p&gt;
