Inside MSDN and TechNet

This blog provides an insider view to MSDN and TechNet development.
Interested in Helping us Shape the Next Version of the MSDN Library?

We have put a facebook group together to aggregate together the folks who want to work with us to provide feedback, usability and ideas for the next generation of the MSDN Library. We call this project Library 3.0 and we will be organizing events and presentations from this group to bring us together on the project. My goal is build quorum of members over the next months with kickoff’s in late May for the first events.

Hi Tim,

The idea was not "choose" facebook to singularly be the option to engage people on the next generation of the Library, but to expand the conversation to as many people who are interested as we can. Traditional means of engaging MVP’s, inviting folks in for usability studies, putting up surveys in the library, etc., all these efforts are solid means to get feedback. We tossed in the facebook groups and other social networking sites to expand the audience we can get involved with our site and designs. We’ll see how it goes, I do agree that these early efforts are competing with thin participation across the groups, but a couple hundred folks who are willing to give us back comments as we make progress is another valued outlet IMO.

Larry,

There are tech centers now on MSDN, currently i don't see any ways for people to check back on what they learnt on a particular content. Having a questionier has two advantages - a) This will give immediate feedback for people to check on what they just studied.

b) This will increase the customer sats for MSDN as they are given feedback on what they just learnt from the content.

Perhaps the questions for the content can be fed from MS Learning and there can be ad. revenue from other companies which offer people to prepare for Microsoft Certification exams..
