:) What was the original name of the Bank of America?

Answer:  The Bank of Italy.  It was started in San Francisco in 1904 by Amadeo Giannini, the son of Italian immigrants, who changed its name to Bank of America in 1928.

This answer is misleading.  Bank of Italy was not the original name of Bank of America.  Bank of America Los Angeles has just as much of a claim.  The two merged to form Bank America 1929.

In its present form and structure, the "original name" would have to be either Bank America, North Carolina National Bank or Nations Bank.  Everyone loves this question and it usually results in a wrong answer.
