Back at work
Well I'm back at work now after my travels to the orient. I spent time in Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore before heading off to India on vacation.
Bejing was just a short one day trip - attended MEDC where 4 of the Chinese teams that had participated in WESC had set up their stalls- so it was great to meet with them again.
After that I headed off to Shanghai for the special academic training event at Tongji University. It was very well attended - ~100 professors from all over China participated and went away with enhanced knowledge about Windows CE and Windows XPEmbedded. The folks at MSR in Asia did a very good job organizing this as did the administration at Tongji University.
Also were treated on all days to some of the best chinese cuisine. We also managed to take a boat ride on the Huangpu River at night - in the same boat that Deng Xiaoping had traveled in!
Singapore:
Singapore impresses as always with its efficiency and sense of order. I had a room on the 35 th floor of the Swissotel overlooking the bay so I had a terrific view of the sea and all the ships - Singapore harbor is the second busiest in the world after Rotterdam - making it a key hub for worldwide commerce. To my right I could also see the Singapore Cricket Club:-)
The Microsoft office in Singapore also has some terrific views of the sea especially from some of the conference rooms. It is apparently a new office - they have chosen well.
