The whole company takes a vacation!

Happy 2006 everybody! Hope it is full of good health and happiness!!!

Over the holidays, I visited a classmate from bschool who works in Sun. He mentioned that at a particular time of the year, the entire company takes vacation. This is in the June/ July time frame. It started when the company was not doing well so instead of laying people off, the whole company went on unpaid leave for a week.

Now of course the company is doing better so they don't need to do that but the majority of employees still want to take that time off. The reason being that if everybody takes a vacation at the same time, when you come back you don't have to burn the midnight oil playing catch up. 

Coming to think of it, when we were in school, we all took vacation at the same time so maybe that isn't a bad idea.
