Hollywood and the University of Chicago

It's funny but it seems like the Uof C is getting increasing attention from Hollywood. I recently saw 'Syriana' where Matt Damon plays the role of an Energy Derivatives trader and I think is a grad of Chicago.

On my recent trip to Japan I saw 'Proof' starring Anthony Hopkins as the brilliant UofC Math professor whose equally brilliant but unheralded daughter played by Jodie Foster (who goes to NorthWestern - there we go again:-)) finally comes up with 'proof' of a stunning mathematical concept that has  eluded the best brains so far. Lot's of footage of Hyde Park which brought back some good memories.

On the same flight I also saw the Runaway Jury (super movie) where Dustin Hoffman hires an assistant to help psychoanalyze the jury in order to select a favorable jury. This guy proudly displays his credentials - UofC of course.

All this happened during the past month or so so I wonder if Hollywood is discovering Chicago. Dean Snyder should be smiling.
