THAT is funny!! Following on from today's New York Times article it seems Palm is going all out trying

Nice humor but really, is Palm really a player any more?  I ditched the Palm OS years ago when ActiveSync came along and allowed me to keep a constant sync of my outlook w/out requiring me to remember to push the "button".  

Even with a Palm device you would need a box to manage the devices for security.  Seven or Goodlink.  Both are minor players and as noted is anyone even deploying large scale Palm rollouts?  Their market share has been flat for years and the lone reason they are still around as many businesses have developed applications for these devices.

Not knocking the Palm as the Palm Professional is what brought me into this sector but technology has passed them by.

The answer to that is a qualified yes. They still make good hardware and the Treo still has a loyal fanbase. Now are Palm OS base device still players? I would say no. But it has been a couple years now that Treo's have had Windows Mobile.

 All in all Palm is stilla player allbeit a small and slipping player. Ther eis potential for them in hardware.
