These guys are churning out some great apps! The latest is Do Not Disturb that will automatically reject callers based on the profile you set on your device! You can set your phone to reject calls based on number, contact or categories!

Skype 2.5 Beta released for Windows Mobile

Skype have just released a new Beta of their VOIP/IM solution for Windows Mobile. It’s available for both Pocket PC/Professional and Smartphone/Standard devices.

There aren’t too many details on what 2.5 offers apart from improved sound quality and better stability.

Getting Things Done

I’ve blogged before about the great guidance given in David Allen’s book Getting Things Done, well one of my colleagues stumbled across this video on YouTube of David giving some Google employees some guidance on how to use his tools and systems.

It’s long at 45 mins but definitely worth watching.

Activesync Error Codes and Resolutions

I often got email from my blog from people who are having issues with their device and Exchange Activesync.

Often they provide the Error Code and I always use the Reference at PocketPCFaq.com to provide them some guidance on what could be causing their problem.

Live Mesh Updates for Mobile, Mac and Desktop

I personally think Live Mesh is one of the coolest things to come out of Microsoft recently. It allows me to keep all my Laptops, PCs and Mobile Devices in Sync.

The Live Mesh team has just released a number of updates for the Mobile, Mac and Desktop clients. You will automatically be prompted to install these updates next time you login.

The updates provide some performance and reliability enhancements.

The latest versions are:

* Live Mesh for Mac: 0.9.3602.818

* Live Mesh for Mobile: 0.9.3424.9

* Live Desktop: 0.9.3424.9

Activesync Tester solution

If you are having any problems with Exchange Activesync then this tool may be a great help. The AccessMyLan ActiveSync Tester simulates an ActiveSync client and provides a detailed diagnostic report with possible solution options. The tool can identify:

Host connectivity and name resolution (DNS) problems
SSL / Certificate issues
Exchange Server / ActiveSync configuration issues
User configuration issues

The ActiveSync Tester provides much more detailed and useful diagnostic and remediation information than handset ActiveSync error codes enabling you to quickly identify and resolve your ActiveSync issues. The tool does not transmit any user or server information to AccessMyLan.

Communicator Mobile 2007 R2

Not the most compelling of product names but Communicator Mobile 2007 R2 is almost due to be released to customers.

The original Communicator Mobile client allowed you to interact through IM and presence with your co-workers and any organisation or public service with which you were federated. The Communicator Mobile 2007 R2 client extends this capability to provide a much richer experience for voice.

Some of the key features include:

1) Call Handling Setup

You can use the Communicator Mobile client to configure routing rules for incoming calls to your OCS telephone number. You can direct those calls to your mobile, hotel phone or even home phone.

2) Single Number Reach

This is the killer feature for organisations looking to save money in these difficult economic times. Single Number Reach will allow you to places calls from your Mobile device however instead of an outbound call from your mobile they will be originated from the OCS server not your mobile phone. What effectively happens is that Communicator Mobile uses your data connection to request your OCS Server to place two calls – one to you and the other to the recipient. These are then connected together.

This has 2 major benefits in that the recipient only sees your Company telephone number (not your mobile) – great for preserving the one number approach and secondly you only pay for a local call (if at all) rather than international rates.

There are also additional improvments around battery life and performance however IMHO these are the key features!
