&lt;p&gt;the good news is the Silverlight .NET Framework really is a subset of the desktop .NET Framework and it follows the same architecture as the older systems.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The only new piece is the Media pieces of Silverlight which include a XAML parser, codecs, the ActiveX control for hosting, etc...&lt;/p&gt;
