Off the cuff, off the top

Looking over the top-10 lists on Ladybug, I realized there's an excuse to speak up.  So, here goes:

Suggestions

#1 - C# Edit and continue.

Dude.  Yeah.  Totally.

We've been saying for a while that this is our #1 customer request.  Now you're saying it, too.

Even more interesting that it's the #1 request for all of Visual Studio, not just for C#.  Note that extended VB Refactorings isn't in the list.  Hmmm.

#2 - single-character type parameter names ain't coo.

Yeah, they aren't very helpful.  It's not clear to me what the right answer is, but you're being heard.

#3 - Direct Downloads.

Fixed.  Not just “fixed in the current builds“.  Fixed for you, today.

#4 - RSS feed for Ladybug.

Amusing to me that your #4 request is to hear about requests faster.  It's a good idea.

Bugs

#1 - WS03 not listed when reporting a bug.

Dissapointing that we didn't think of this, in my opinion.  I'm already annoyed that most web sites forget this, but that Microsoft would get it wrong is a shame.

#2 - Ctrl-TAB is broken.

THIS SUCKS.  Arrg.  My team saw this long before Beta 1 shipped.  For us it was the most signficant issue in the product.  It was obvious that this should be fixed in Beta 1.  And now it's #2 in the bug list.  Go figure.

(Sorry folks.)

#3 - Whitespace handling on ENTER.

I was really surprised to see this get so much attention.  Since it's #3, I think we must fix it.

#4 - Help search on 'C#' is a nop

Dear Help team: don't drive our users to google.  Thanks, -Jay

Can I report bugs for the Xpress products as well? They're not offered in the bug submission form and I don't have a MSDN subscription to download the whole VS to verify the bug exists there as well.

Yes, please report Express SKU bugs, as well. If you can't figure out the right values in the form, just do the best you can.

Thanks for taking the time to send us your feedback.

Please don't be fooled by the ranking of that list, because it is broken. The way they calculate the rank is complete nonsense (average vote * number of votes). How on earth can anybody with any knowledge of stats come up with something like that?!? This ranking will at some point only reflect the number of votes, not how important people think an issue is...

The average score of importants for the single-character type parameter issue has an average score of 3.7, with 109 votes. This is NOT a pressing issue for most people, there are MANY issues that are ranked lower that got a higher score!

Please vote for my bug report on this, so that it has a chance to make the top of the list. Doesn't matter what importantance you give it, as long as many people vote for it, at least until it is resovled ;)

David: you're right. So I voted on it. :-)

Remember to give the Ladybug folks some credit. This is their first time out. First time = lots of learning to be done.

They've already made a lot of progress with the system in the short time that it has been out.

You are right, I should not have been so harsh! It is an incredible cool system :)

Do note the Help Search on C# bug was a Community Tech Preview bug and not a beta 1 bug.

Ugh, the bug not even a Help bug. The bug is about search on LadyBug and has nothing to do with Search in VS.

Bug #3 - This happens in Visual Studio 6 too. I like this behavior, consequently I don't consider this a bug and I hope you guys do not "fix" it.
