What is Windows Embedded POSReady 2009?

I’ve been getting asked a lot of questions about the new naming conventions – for instance What is POSReady 2009? Here it is in a Nutshell:

POSReady 2009 is the next generation Point of Service operating system from the Windows Embedded Family. the product you know today as WEPoS, will become POSReady with the new release.

It is a compact, but powerful operating system based on Windows XP Professional SP3. It also is complimented with the POS for .NET common control library, which allows for seamless plug and play with Retail peripherals! Retail, Hospitality, Kiosk, and other OEM’s will benefit greatly from this Product! we also have several embedded specific features that we’ve taken from the Windows Embedded Standard (XPE) OS.

I’ve been involved with the POSReady/WEPoS effort since before it began, and I’m excited to see this new direction! Great job, Team!

We have more info coming in the very near future, as we prepare to launch this product! Stay Tuned! smile_wink  We hope to see you all at NRF in New York, in January!

Cheers!
