Wow, it looks like Word 6.0 and 97 both doubled the number of features of their previous versions. I guess that's why Word 97 was the version that made people think Office was "bloated".

So why isn't Word 12 on that chart? How many new features does Office 12 introduce?

Interesting about splitting Word functionality into stand-alone applications. I was just thinking today that the Envelopes feature ought to be its own application, but then I bet other people may think the same for dozens of other functions, resulting in those 65 or so icons. So best leave things where they are. :)

The integration of the equation editor and PPT charting was a good decision, IMHO.

Charting was quite a weird thing, because people were used to a different look & feel within Excel, compared to that provided by MS Graph.
