SharePoint Connections... Space helmet

I bought a space helmet at Mission Space at Epcot while down here thinking it would make a great prop.  I downloaded the 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) midi file and had it running on the laptop while I slowly moved my head with the space helmet over the desk.  I got a few chuckles... I then realized the mic wasn't on.

A few of the lines...

SharePoint Administration isn't Rocket Science

Note in the helmet: "Not designed as protective gear."

"It's one small step for man...." Well that wasn't mine, but I said it

The morning came very early.  The wake up call never went off, but I woke up before it was suppose to go off.  I kept expecting the phone to ring and didn't want to jump in the shower.  After I was out an operator called asking if I got the call.  That was as I was walking out the door.

The basic and advanced talks were well attended.  Got lots of good questions.  An amazing 90% of my basic talk had little to no experience with WSS or MOSS.  The advanced course was made up of a 50% mix of experienced SharePoint and new.  Lots of newbies.  Good times.

I did a talk on "Is the File Server Dead."  It isn't by the way.  Inroads on that topic.  Microsoft has put out a great reporting tool for file servers.  Here's a quote from the intro:

Create quotas to limit the space allowed for a volume or folder and generate notifications when the quota limits are approached or exceeded.

Automatically generate and apply quotas to all existing folders and any new subfolders in a volume or folder.

Create file screens to control the type of files that users can save and send notifications when users attempt to save blocked files.

Define quota and file screening templates that can be easily applied to new volumes or folders and reused across an organization.

Schedule periodic storage reports that help identify trends in disk usage.

Monitor attempts to save unauthorized files for all users or for a selected group of users.

Generate storage reports instantly, on demand.
