Introductions

Hello ALL!

I am the new LIVE Evangelist for Singapore and I hope you will enjoy my ramblings on issues and technology in our new Web 2.0 world.

2007 is going to be an exciting year for us here as I can't remember when Microsoft has had so much technology hitting the street all at the same time.  IIs7, WPF/E, Orcas and Expression Studio all promise to interesting and exciting opportunities for us to express our creativity in web design and implementation.

My focus right now is on IIs7.  Did you know it is shipping with Vista?  There is a great walkthrough available to show how you might install it.  I will also be giving a talk about it at our Jan31st MSDN Connections event.

IIs7 really excites me with its integrated request pipeline and opportunities for extensibility.  I have worked on a number of projects and it has always been confusing for those involved to integrate .Net Authentication with IIs internal model.  The fact that in IIs 6 only those file extensions processed by the .Net handler can be managed through a .Net Security system has always given me problems when communicating with non technical contributors to the projects I have been working on.

Debugging and tracing also looks promising in its ability to profile the performance and reliability of the servers.  The fact that you can monitor and report so easily on individual requests will give a greater chance of deploying more problem free code.

Hosters should also be happy with it as it gives them the opportunity to differentiate their services with new custom modules and workflows.

More later…..
