Touring with the Director of Web Strategy for Microsoft

Yesterday it was my great privilege to host Michael Platt, The Director of Web Strategy for Microsoft, while he was here in Singapore visiting with a number of customers.  I felt I was in the shadow of a giant as we talked to customers about the future of MS Web Strategy and his vision of Web 2.0.  Here are some of the thoughts he shared that have resonated with me:

·         Web 2.0 is not about technology, it is about communities coming together in organic ways to create new business value.

·         The browser has reached is reaching its limit.  Soon applications will blur the boundaries and whether the application is hosted on the browser or desktop will be transparent

·         Education is the space that will be the most disruptive and next year that is all we will be talking about.

At one visit he had 20 + bubbling with excitement as we left and at another he had a discussion with a senior government leader on the growth of social communities.  Here is a copy of one of the presentations he delivered.

All and all a wonderful experience that I am still digesting.
