So, I spent some days rebuildling two of my machines in my office. One is my main dev workstation, and the other is a unit I use for meetings and for taking on the road. It's a Tablet PC, and it works pretty well. My main dev machine needed it most because:
1) My start menu was so loaded that it took about 30 seconds to load
2) I could no longer defrag my drive (whoa)
I install a lot of beta stuff of all sorts on it, so I need to give it a fresh start every now and again. Anyway, as I am reinstalling the relevant apps once again, I come to my blog tools. I had BlogJet, and now they have a new version for a fee. Not sure if I will try it out. If they comp me a copy, I will experiment with it and blog about my reaction. I liked the beta version, but I am not sure if the new, official release is worth it. So, I did a search to find blog authoring tools. Guess what? There is not much out there. Sure, there are a few, but the list of features is not exactly impressive.
The ones that do exist tout things like the ability to use a color palette! Wow! And, if you are really wanting the luxury version, you get full HTML editing! You can embed images and it has hooks into the API for your blog platform (.Text, whatever). My excitement cannot be measured. There is no killer app. Not even one that could cause a flesh wound as far as I can tell.
Gang, I used to a load of HTML/DHTML programming years ago. Blogs are not about putting in my <P> tags. Come on. What's worse is that the Web-based tools are slightly more primitive.
What is clear is our need for good blog authoring tools, and that is just the start.
Rock thought for the day: I use a Zoom 505 II effects pedal- it gives a load of effects for low cost. It's a bit noisy, but it's great for practice play. What recommendations does anyone have for a quality superfuzz/big muff style pedal?
Rock on.
