ActiveWords and Microsoft Office

I met with Buzz Bruggeman, evangelist extraordinaire for ActiveWords this morning. (I knew we would hit it off when I told him I wanted to meet at 7am!)

I have a few thoughts about ActiveWords. I have mentioned before that I know this product saves me time. If you use Microsoft Office, you will find ActiveWords to be very useful. I love the Outlook Agent that you can install from the ActiveWords site so that I need to type only a keyword to open an new message, add boilerplate text so I can send a mail (I use this for many of the people who email me for free Tech Support). I want to help people, but I cannot become a direct support channel, so I send folks a friendly mail saying that I cannot possibly take on all of the requests that come to me and where they can learn more. ActiveWords makes this a lot easier for me. It saves me time.

Now, what about Buzz? He is very likeable. One of the things that pleases me so much about this industry is the sense of community, the surprising amount of comraderie. Buzz is a great example of the kind of people I often meet in the tech world. He is friendly, pleasant, very informed, and he knows a great deal more about the world than just technology. It is common to find people who are very knowledgeable about science, literature, art, biology, law, religion, and so much more- beyond the superficial- in addition to the technology for which they have great passion.

Rock Thought for the day:  When I was in the hospital trying to sleep (I was awake for almost forty consecutive hours despite several 200ml doses of morphine during the couple of days) I had a little TV in the room. We don't have television channels of any kind at my house, so I checked out VH1. I saw a video and heard the song "So Cold" by the band, Breaking Benjamin. I really liked it, and I recommend some of the other songs off their album, "We are not alone".

Check it out, and....

Rock on
