Architectural Overview of Windows SharePoint Services

The managed object model for WSS (Windows SharePoint Services) is one of the great advances made in the release for Windows Server 2003. I am actually using it for an article I am authoring for MSDN magazine. One of my colleagues here, Les Smith, authored a very good article explaining the architecture of WSS, and I recommend it highly.

Check it out here: Architectural Overview of Windows SharePoint Services

If you have been thinking about coding for WSS, or if you are planning a  solution and need some background to inform your plans, read this article.

Second Rock Thought for the day:  Remember the band the "Sneaker Pimps"? Also, I hear Depeche Mode is doing yet another album. I cannot recall if I mentioned it in a previous Rock Thought. I think I did. In any case, I liked the Exciter album. I am curious to see where he takes it in this new one. I feel disappointed when bands go completely retro and try to produce something too much like their earlier material (Depeche Mode did not do so with Exciter IMHO). The whole idea is to to keep creating "art" not a cliche, unless creating the cliche is done in such a way as to be ironic and call attention to itself (U2 pushed this to the extreme in their "POP" era).

Rock on
