What's the benefit of going 64 bit?

I have been deploying 64 bit servers wherever I can for customers as of late. I truly believe that while issues may be experienced with backup solutions and other 3rd party applications, these issues will be resolved and the benefits and future expandability offered by this platform make it worth addressing the pain points today. A common question I receive from customers, "What's the benefit?". I found we have a great 64 bit resource center that has a good white paper to help answer this question.

I really like how I can keep stacking the memory on and combined with the current servers supporting dual quad core processors can provided some great request per second rates for sharepoint.

Unforetunately for our upcoming MOSS2007 deployment we're going to have to dumb it down to 32bit.

Now if Adobe could release that 64bit acrobat ifilter I'd be very happy!

(and the little gottcha that the 64bit MSOLAP OLE DB driver used by excel services can't talk to 32bit SQL2000 Analysis services)
