RSS Awareness Day - May 1st
May 1st, is the official "RSS Awareness Day". While we shouldn't forget all the celebrations (International May Day) and remembrances that take place on the same day, I do think it is a great idea to raise awareness for the technology. My team at Microsoft develops service endpoints for the RSS/ATOM feeds for our Social Platform, so I hope this "awareness day" increases awareness of the benefits of syndication technologies.
RSSDay.org describes RSS as...
The main benefit of RSS is that it enables people to stay connected
with their favorite websites without having to visit them. Once you
subscribe to a particular RSS feed, you will automatically receive
updates from the website that publishes the feed, whenever they release
new content.
RSS @ Wikipedia and (my preferred standard) ATOM @ Wikipedia
Piyush Shah, a dev on my team, contributed to the RSS Toolkit 2.0, which helps devs easily integrate RSS or ATOM into their sites.
Tshak, another dev on my team, is going to be speaking at TechEd in June on "Enabling Syndication Feeds through WCF Endpoints"
