Integrating Office Applications with Enterprise Systems
All enterprises today have a common set of frequently used business entities. These could be customers or orders, parts or products, programs or events. Regardless of what it is, in the process of people communicating and collaborating with others within the enterprise, these entities frequently surface in communications such as documents or emails. But to fully understand this information, users must switch to other applications that provide this additional information, whether that information comes from an inventory system or a CRM database. This “context switch” is inefficient, subject to errors and results in lost productivity.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
The Microsoft Office System with the Information Bridge Framework allows developers to integrate enterprise information systems with rich Office based documents. By leveraging Web Services, the Information Bridge Framework brings these systems and their information to the document and to the information worker, providing the necessary context without leaving the Office application that they are in. The result? Greater efficiency and productivity from richer integration of the data that runs the business with the ways that people actually use the information.
This full day lecture-based workshop will introduce developers to the Information Bridge Framework and show them how to integrate the enterprise with Office applications while utilizing their existing .NET development skills. Attendees will learn the core architecture of IBF and how to leverage existing Web Services with IBF to enable rich scenarios that were difficult or impossible before. This session will be led by Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Christoph Schittko, a noted expert in XML and Web Services, from Momentum Software.
