I just looked back at how long it's been since I've blogged. It's hard to believe that it's been almost a month. And a long month it's been ... it started with the nastiest, ugliest case of bronchitis that I've had since I was 15 or so. In fact, I'm still dealing with the aftermath a bit. And August is a really, really busy month ... there's my birthday, my wife's birthday, our anniversary (both of meeting and wedding). And my mom also came down to visit from Baltimore. So ... it's been a really, really long month.

But I'm back ... and I should be a bit more frequent again. I'm sitting here in Austin now listening to Jason Beres talking about ASP.NET -- really good stuff! If you are in Houston, Jason will be back for the November HDNUG meeting.

My First Entry ...

Well, you've found my little corner of the blog space. Welcome!

I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. My name is J Sawyer and I'm a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft based in Houston, TX. I'm associated with the Gulf Coast District, which covers South Texas and Louisiana. As a DE, I work with our broad community of developers, from enterprise developers to user groups to MVPs. It's a lot of fun most of the time ... but it's also quite bit of work as well. I've been with Microsoft a little over 4 years now and started as a consultant with Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) where I worked on some cool projects (as well as one or two that weren't that much fun). I moved to Houston from Baltimore, where I was born and raised, to be with Tracy, who is now my wife and (luckily for me) is also a developer-type.

So that's a little bit about myself. I didn't want to bore you to much with all of this background.
