Hi

What are the licensing implications around the implementation of this 'service portal'?

Specifically around an internal helpdesk for example.

Hi Folks:

If this was exposed externally you would need an external connector license. Internally, every user would need an MSCRM license.

What if I have 1000 employees supported by a 10 man helpdesk & I want to expose the internal calls so the other employees can see the status?

And what about just submitting information -  a new case for example? Does this have any licensing implications?

Hey Folks:

Generally if you are exposing MSCRM data and/or functionality to the internet (i.e. people who are not licenses MSCRM users) you need the external connector license.

For the case with the 10-CRM users and 1000 employees, I am not 100% sure. I'd check with your local Microsoft license person. I will also try to find out some info as that's a good question.

The major issue with these kind of solutions are the licenses. (Technically they are not hard to build) I think your not allowed to use the externa connector for internal company users.. please anyone for MS licenses update this thread with 100% forsure info. Integration sharepoint and CRM is easy but the cost will be to high for only looking at some key CRM data.
