3GSM its where I want to be....

So I've been keeping up with the news coming out of 3GSM and recall when I was part of a 3G planning effort back in 2001.  You know, back in the day when all the operators were going broke buying spectrum access....

Back then 3G speeds were going to be faster than I could get from my DSL connection, now Cingular is testing HSDPA which will provide burst capabilities up to 3.5MB/s.  Very exciting.....

My first experience with disconnected data devices was with a Palm VIIx and I paid out the nose for both it and the service.  My wife has tried to sell it on me a few times, but I keep hiding it on her after I notice it on Craig's list or Ebay....  ;)

To that end, I was dumb and sold my Newton back about 5 years ago... :( Sometimes its nice to see how far we've come in the last few years and think about where we can take things in the next 5 or so. 

As for me, I think the next boom in mobility will move from email access which is king today to building Line of Business applications. 

As far as a killer game for a mobile device, Solitaire is still king.  I think Sudoku is a close second, I recently became addicted when I couldn't find a good book to read, now even my 8 and 9 year olds are playing Sudoku.
